A Holistic Practice to Resolve Inner Tension
Here’s an exercise I use with my clients which was simply, powerful, and transformative:
1. Recognise the Voices Within
Sit quietly and extend both hands, palms up. Your left palm represents the actions you’re struggling with—those habits or choices that don’t feel right. Your right palm holds your beliefs—the core values you know in your heart to be true.
2. Ask the Tough Questions
Speak to your left palm. “Why are you here? What need are you fulfilling?” Be kind to yourself as the answers come. Perhaps it’s providing comfort, a sense of control, or even a distraction.
3. Visualize Integration
Slowly bring your palms together, imagining the two sides of you finding common ground. See your beliefs gently replacing the actions that no longer serve you, creating space for choices that align with who you want to be.
4. Commit to the Practice
Repeat this twice a day for a week. Transformation doesn’t happen overnight, but with every practice, you’ll feel more connected to your inner truth.
